Urologia Interdisciplinaris (Interdisciplinary Urology) is a periodic academic journal established in response to the challenges of contemporary clinical practice and fundamental science. We operate on the postulate that the human body constitutes a holistic system, and pathophysiological processes rarely remain confined within the boundaries of a single anatomical region or medical specialty. While our primary focus is urology, we conceptualize it not as an isolated discipline, but as a nexus integrating multiple medical specialties.
The journal specializes in publishing scientific literature addressing issues at the intersection of allied medical disciplines. The key focus of the journal is urology, examined not in isolation, but in close conjunction with a number of critically important fields:
- Gynecology and Reproductive Medicine: pelvic pathology, infertility, endocrine disorders, and gynecologic oncology.
- Andrology: male health, sexology, and hormonal status.
- Oncology and Radiation Therapy: multidisciplinary approaches to the management of genitourinary neoplasms.
- Neurology: neurourology, neurogenic disorders of pelvic organs, and pelvic pain syndromes.
- Endocrinology: metabolic aspects of urological diseases.
- Proctology: pelvic pain syndromes and functional pelvic floor disorders.
- Embryology and Genetics: fundamental developmental mechanisms and congenital anomalies.
- Surgery: innovative surgical technologies, transplantology, multidisciplinary management of surgical complications, and the interface with general abdominal surgery.
- Immunology: immunopathogenesis of inflammatory processes, immunotherapy in urologic oncology, and immunological aspects of reproductive health.
- Clinical Laboratory Diagnostics: discovery and validation of novel biomarkers, molecular genetic testing, precision medicine, and comprehensive interpretation of laboratory data.
We strive to synthesize multidisciplinary expertise into a unified evidence base, support clinicians who transcend conventional disciplinary boundaries, and facilitate the implementation of treatment modalities that prioritize holistic patient care over organ-centric approaches.
Our mission is to integrate the research findings of scientists and the extensive clinical experience of practitioners into the international scientific community. We aim to serve as an international scientific platform for physicians and researchers to engage in discourse and exchange clinical expertise in healthcare, thereby elevating the standard of scientific research and fostering international scientific collaboration.
Our objective is to advance the standard of scientific research in pelvic medicine and develop international cooperation; to integrate research outcomes and the profound expertise of domestic and international specialists in clinical medicine and biomedical sciences—primarily in the fields of urology, oncology, andrology, medical genetics, and microbiology. Our core task is to translate data from allied disciplines into a unified evidence base that serves patient interests and promotes the implementation of comprehensive approaches in healthcare.
The Editorial Board considers original research articles representing the results of completed studies with a robust evidence base, review articles systematizing contemporary data on topical issues, case reports detailing unique clinical observations with diagnostic and therapeutic implications, and clinical guidelines elucidating modern approaches to diagnosis and treatment.
Manuscripts are accepted in Russian or English. The submitted material must not have been published previously, in whole or in part, and must not be under consideration for publication elsewhere. Authors are required to adhere to the formatting style of the current journal issue. Bibliographic references must be formatted in accordance with international standards.
All submitted materials undergo a multi-stage evaluation process. This commences with manuscript submission, followed by an internal editorial review for a preliminary assessment of thematic fit and compliance with submission requirements. Subsequently, the manuscript is subjected to external peer review via an independent evaluation by two experts using a double-blind peer-review model, culminating in a final decision by the Editorial Board. Concurrently, ethical oversight is conducted to ensure compliance with publication ethics standards.
The journal adheres to the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Authors are obligated to guarantee the authenticity of the presented data, ensure the absence of plagiarism and self-plagiarism, disclose any potential conflicts of interest, obtain informed consent from patients for clinical materials, and respect intellectual property rights. The journal is intended for research scientists and medical school faculty, postgraduate students and early-career researchers, as well as practicing clinicians engaged in the advancement of preventive, diagnostic, therapeutic, and rehabilitation methodologies.
The journal provides immediate open access to its content based on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.
Our open access policy aligns with the definitions set forth in the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI). Accordingly, the journal's articles are freely and openly accessible on the journal's website. This permits any user to search, read, download, copy, distribute, print, link to the full texts of these articles, crawl them for indexing, pass them as data to software, or use them for any other lawful purposes, without financial, legal, or technical barriers other than those inseparable from gaining access to the Internet itself.
Publication in the journal is free of charge for authors. The Editorial Board does not levy any Article Processing Charges (APCs) or fees for the preparation, hosting, or printing of materials.
